Download a Twitter thread in one file
Threads are where a lot of the best writing on X lives, and they are awkward to keep. Bookmarks only save the first post, screenshots cut the text into pieces, and the thread can disappear the moment the author deletes it or locks their account. A downloaded copy fixes that: one file you own, readable offline, that does not depend on X staying up.
This Twitter thread downloader takes the link to any post in a thread and collects every post the author wrote in it, in order, with their photos. You get a clean preview first, so you can remove a post you don't need or paste another link to add a missing one, then download the result as a PDF or a Markdown file.
How to download a Twitter thread
- Copy a link from the thread. On X, tap the share icon under any post in the thread and choose Copy link. The first post is the usual choice, but any post in the thread works.
- Paste it and unroll. Paste the link into the box above and press Unroll thread. Every post by the author appears in order.
- Tidy it up. Remove posts you don't want, or paste another link to add a reply that was missed. Pick the Pure, Paper or Onyx theme.
- Download. Press Download PDF for an A4 PDF, or .md for a Markdown file. Copy Markdown puts the same text on your clipboard.
PDF or Markdown: which download should you pick?
PDF is best when you want the thread to look the way it reads on screen: author, avatar, photos and the theme you chose, split across A4 pages. It is the format to send to someone, print, or file away. The PDF is built from the rendered page, so treat it as a faithful copy to read rather than a document to edit.
Markdown is plain text with light formatting. Each post becomes its own section with its images and a link back to the original post, which makes it the better choice for a notes app like Obsidian or Notion, or for quoting the thread later.
What the downloader does and doesn't do
It collects posts written by the thread's author; replies from other people are left out so the thread reads like an article. It works with both x.com and twitter.com links. It can only see public posts. Videos show up as a thumbnail rather than a playable clip, so if you need the video itself, use the Twitter video downloader.
If you would rather keep threads in a searchable library than as loose files, you can save Twitter threads to SaveFlow with a free account and export them later.
FAQ
How do I download a Twitter thread?
Copy the link to any post in the thread, paste it into the box at the top of this page and press Unroll thread. When the posts appear, press Download PDF for a PDF file or .md for a Markdown file.
Which file formats can I download?
PDF (A4 pages, with the theme you picked) and Markdown (.md). You can also copy the Markdown straight to your clipboard to paste into Notion, Obsidian or a doc.
Is the Twitter thread downloader free?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap and no ads. The PDF carries a small "Unrolled with SaveFlow" credit at the bottom.
Does it download images from the thread?
Yes. Photos attached to each post are included in the preview, the PDF and (as image links) the Markdown file. Videos are not embedded; use the Twitter video downloader for those.
Can I download a thread from a private account?
No. Only public posts can be fetched. Posts that are deleted, protected or age-restricted will not load.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so it works on mobile Safari and Chrome. The PDF is saved through your browser's normal download flow.
