  2. 1 / 7 Kyushu Ashi is the secondary indicator in the Ichimoku system. It's a very powerful tool but very few people know about it. If 90% of people who use the Ichimoku have never heard about the Three Theories, I can confidently say that the percentage of people who have ever heard about Kyushu Ashi is below 1% of all the people who use Ichimoku. 🫴 It is easy to calculate and use Kyushu Ashi. 📚📚But to use it, you must have already mastered the main Indicator (the five lines) and the Time Theory. 👑 That's why Kyushu Ashi can be considered the most Advanced Ichimoku level and that's why the cat on the original tweet of this thread has a black karate belt. 🫴 One of the reasons for which Hosoda created Kyushu Ashi was exactly its simplicity. 👀Everyone who has used Ichimoku has discovered how amazingly accurate it is. ❌🖥️But very few people realize the most incredible thing about it: that this complex and accurate system was discovered in a time when computers did not exist. Nowadays we load Ichimoku on the chart with a single click on TradingView and we count the cycles with the data period tool in a second. But when Hosoda was working on Ichimoku all this needed to be done MANUALLY. Not only it took him decades of hard backtesting and research to establish the system. But even people who were using it needed a lot of time to create the charts and update them every day - manually. 🫴 For this reason Kyushu Ashi was invented as a simplified version which can generate from the market signals in a much simpler way. ⚠️But, one important thing must be noted before learning anything about: Kyushu Ashi - as Hosoda has said, must be used only as a confluence with the main indicator, never by itself. So if you get a KA signal you must always look also at the five lines indicator.

  3. 2 / 7 🫴 Kyushu Ashi can generate powerful reversal signals as early as possible, trend continuation signals or end-of-trend move signals. In Japanese "kyu" means "nine", "ashi" - "candle" and "shu" - "week". KA was developed to be used on the weekly chart. It can be used also on the daily but its accuracy there is lower. 9⃣Kyushu Ashi is based on the last nine candles. As we know, nine is the smallest Kihon Suchi number from the Time Theory. Kyushu Ashi are special candles built by nine candles. They have no wicks (highs and lows), only an open and a close. 📗 Each KA candle is built by the open of the candle nine candles ago and the current close. ⚠️As usual like with everything related to cycles in Ichimoku, we count the current candle as number #1. You can load the Kyushu Ashi indicator by Forex Kei on TradingView. This is how it looks like. 🐂 A bullish KA candle is a candle which closes above the candle's open 9 candles back. 🐻 And a bearish KA candle is a KA candle that closes below the candle's open 9 candles back.

  4. 3 / 7 Kyushu Ashi generates two types of signals: price-based and time-based. The price-based are Y pattern and B pattern. Y pattern is the weaker signal. It is when a bullish KA candle closes above another KA candle. Or when a bearish candle closes below another KA candle. As we need confluence with the main Ichimoku indicator, the minimum requirement would be the close to be below/above Tenkan Sen respectively. But, as Y pattern is a weak signal, it's better if the close is below/above Kijun Sen. ⌛️Or, if at least if it comes with a confluence with a time-based KA signal.

  5. 4 / 7 💪 B pattern is the stronger Kyushu Ashi breakout signal. It is when a bullish KA candle closes above an entire range of KA candles, or a bearish KA candle closes below an entire range of KA candles. As it is a stronger signal, if it's just below/above Tenkan Sen (not Kijun Sen), it already can be taken more seriously, with a big amount of certainty. ⚠️A quick note about the price-based signals. According to Ichimoku's Theory it's enough if they are above/below a KA candle. And as we know KA candles have no wicks. But, if the close is also above/below the high/low of the real candle/range, then it's even better as you get even higher probability.

  6. 5 / 7 ⌛️Time-based signals. One fascinating thing about Kyushu Ashi candles is that a lot of the time they respect the Time Cycles - Kihon Suchi and Taito Suchi. So if we see a streak of only bullish or only bearish KA candles which ends with an opposite candle color as a valid time cycle +-2, then we can assume that this is an end of a move and a consolidation or reversal is coming. Sometimes there is noise/chop of bullish and bearish KA candles which means nothing. But especially on the weekly chart and higher timeframes a lot of the time there are clear streaks of only bullish or only bearish candles respecting the time cycles. That's another reason why KA is best suited for the weekly timeframe and higher. On the chart below you can see two end-of-KA-cycle signals - and what happened after each of them.
